West Orange Women Build 2017
As of Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 30 women have committed to the challenge, set up their fundraising pages and raised over $13,360 towards the goal of $25,000.
Habitat for Humanity’s National Women Build Week is an annual week-long event created by Habitat’s Women Build program that invites women to fundraise and devote at least one day to build while helping families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. The week is meant to spotlight the homeownership challenges faced by women. National Women Build Week is held the week leading up to Mother’s Day.
West Orange Habitat for Humanity will join this national event with their inaugural Women Build Day on Saturday, May 13, 2017 with a funding goal of $25,000. All donations remain local to serve the West Orange HFH community. Hosting the event during this week reinforces the message that every woman can make a difference through learning and using construction skills. More than 98,000 women from all 50 states have volunteered at the nine previous National Women Build Week events.
Nominate a woman or raise your hand to be one of 25 women in this unique inaugural group who are networking to help fundraise and build a stronger, safer community!

Tuesday, April 4, 2017 - Women Build Mingle Kick-off Event - A Wonderful Success!
WOHFH hosted an event this evening to share the goals of their upcoming Inaugural Women Build 2017 event which coincides with the National Women Build Week taking place across the United States with a group of West Orange women who were nominated by their peers from the community to step up to the challenge of committing to fundraising $1000 each and participating in the Women Build event on May 13, 2017. The initial goal of $25,000 was set at the first planning meeting held only 2 weeks earlier. Marilyn Hattaway, Director of Development for West Orange Habitat For Humanity, lit the torch to bring this event to our community and called on her closest allies to sound the horns and gather the forces. The turnout was fabulous and the initial goal of 25 women was quickly met and surpassed.
As of this writing, 28 women have committed to the challenge, set up their fundraising pages and raised over $9,000.
